Summer Lates at Eleven Bibury

Summer Lates at Eleven Bibury

Eleven Bibury is a place to eat, have a browse and stay a little longer in one of the Cotswolds’ most picturesque villages. Summer Lates brings relaxed evenings, excellent food and drinks to the heart of Bibury and Cotswold Cloche readers can enjoy 10% off food and drink.

Tucked away in the heart of one of the Cotswolds’ loveliest villages, Eleven is a warm and welcoming bakery café, brasserie and Gallery Shop. It is somewhere for locals and visitors alike to stop awhile, enjoy something delicious and have a good browse.

A stone’s throw from iconic Arlington Row, Eleven is the sort of place every Cotswolds day out needs: somewhere to settle in, enjoy something authentic and let the world slow down for a while.

A visit to Bibury often means a wander beside the river, a glimpse of the honey-stone cottages and that all-important photograph of Arlington Row and The Rack Isle. Linger a little longer, though, and the village begins to reveal a quieter and even more charming side.

Eleven was created with just that in mind, not simply as somewhere to tick off along the way, but as a place that makes a day in Bibury feel even more special.

Discover Eleven

Step inside and the first thing you notice is just how seriously Eleven takes its food.

The bakery café has its own team of experienced chefs, as does the brasserie, and everything is made with real care, using fine ingredients and no additives or preservatives. Quality is extremely important, from the fresh produce selected to the way every plate, cake and pastry is prepared.

The brasserie serves relaxed, generous dishes made from fresh, seasonal ingredients, while the bakery produces fresh cakes, pastries and baked goods on the premises every day, the sort of treats that are very difficult to walk past.

Whether you stop for Eleven’s own blended and roasted coffee and something sweet, settle in for lunch or stay on for an evening meal, the food is every bit as important as the setting. It is delicious, looks every bit as good as it tastes and is thoughtfully prepared by people who clearly know what they are doing.

The Gallery Shop is made for a leisurely browse. It is filled with original art and craft, including pieces by Makers from the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen, thoughtful gifts and carefully curated, one-of-a-kind retail.

Visitors can discover ceramic pieces by Makers including Toff Milway and Annie Hewett, alongside exceptional glassware from Colin and Louise Hawkins and an extensive collection of Maileg mice. These heritage-made and highly collectable characters, with their tiny clothes and creative details, are every bit as delightful for grown-ups as they are for children.

Outside, Eleven’s private Garden Terraces unfold across three levels, with plenty of inviting spots to settle in over food or a drink and soak up the atmosphere of the Cotswolds.

Evenings in Bibury

By day, Bibury has a real buzz about it, with people strolling beside the river, finding their way to Arlington Row and stopping to take in the views.

Later on, things begin to calm down. The crowds thin out, the light softens, and the whole village feels that little bit more relaxed.

That is really what Summer Lates at Eleven is all about.

Throughout the summer, Eleven stays open later, so there is time to sit out on the terrace, enjoy a drink, have something to eat and let the day carry on a little longer.

You might pop in after a walk, meet friends for a catch-up or simply decide you are not quite ready to head home yet. There is no need to make a grand occasion of it.

Summer Lates is simply about enjoying those longer evenings properly: excellent food, a cold drink, lovely company and one of the prettiest villages in the Cotswolds as your backdrop.

For visitors, it is a chance to see a quieter side of Bibury once the busiest part of the day has passed. For locals, it is somewhere easy and welcoming to meet without having to venture too far.

A quick drink can easily turn into a bite to eat; a browse around the Gallery Shop can become an evening on the terrace and, before you know it, you have stayed far longer than you planned. Parking is also readily available throughout Bibury at this time of day.

More than a café stop

Eleven is the sort of place that fits easily into the day.

Some guests arrive ready for coffee and cake after walking through the village. Others call in for lunch, something from the bakery or a relaxed drink before carrying on with their plans.

Then, of course, there is Eleven’s signature afternoon tea, made for sharing, taking your time over and thoroughly enjoying.

Families can take a break from sightseeing, while friends can meet somewhere that feels special without ever feeling formal. During Summer Lates, that same easy-going feeling carries into the evening.

What is on offer naturally changes with the seasons, but you can always expect excellent food, tempting cakes, beautifully made pastries, Eleven’s own coffee and something refreshing to drink.

It is the kind of place where a slice of cake can be the highlight of a walk and where sitting down together feels like part of the day, rather than an interruption to it.

The Garden Terraces come into their own during the warmer months. Spread across three levels, they offer plenty of room to find a favourite spot, settle in and watch the afternoon gently turn into evening.

Parasol heaters and blankets help keep the terraces warm and comfortable as the air turns cooler. Inside, roaring fires make Eleven every bit as welcoming through the autumn months.

After a day exploring the Cotswolds, there is something rather lovely about knowing there is nowhere else you need to be.

Something new to discover

There is always something new and interesting to see at Eleven.

Alongside the permanent selection of art, craft, gifts and one-of-a-kind pieces in the Gallery Shop, Eleven is delighted to be hosting monthly selling exhibitions showcasing the work of specially chosen artists.

From 12 September to 11 October, Eleven will present The Spirit Within, an outstanding collection of animal bronzes by Diana Pattenden.

A special preview evening will take place on 11 September, offering guests the chance to view the collection over drinks and canapés, with Diana herself in attendance. All of the works in the exhibition will be available to purchase.

The preview evening will be held as an open house, with guests asked to register their attendance through the Eleven website.

The exhibition offers another reason to return to Eleven, whether you are a long-standing collector, an art lover or simply someone who enjoys discovering beautiful and unusual pieces.

Take something home

The Gallery Shop is the sort of place where you go in for a quick look and come out having found something you can’t live without.

There are thoughtful gifts for friends and family, pieces for the home and treasures big and small that make a lovely reminder of time spent in the Cotswolds.

The extensive Maileg collection is a particular favourite. With their tiny clothes, beautifully made details and expressive little faces, the mice have a habit of charming visitors of every age.

The regular selling exhibitions add something different throughout the year, meaning even returning visitors will find something new to see.

Make Eleven part of the day

Begin with a walk beside the river, take in Arlington Row and The Rack Isle and explore the village before calling in for food, coffee or cake.

Have a browse around the Gallery Shop, then return later for Summer Lates and a drink on the terrace.

Eleven can just as easily be the destination itself. Come for an hour, stay for the afternoon or drop in for a drink as the day begins to wind down.

Seasonal opening arrangements may vary, so it is always worth checking Eleven’s website before travelling. That way, there is plenty of time to enjoy everything once you arrive.

At Eleven, the invitation is simple: stay a little longer and discover the authentic Bibury.
