15 minutes with... Beth Winsor
For Beth Winsor, founder of Cameo Yoga, wellness is less about perfection and more about finding your anchor — and returning to it, again and again. She talks morning rituals, creative inspiration and what it means to feel rooted.
What's your version of a perfect morning?
Waking up naturally with the light of day, without the alarm clock. Then I'll brew a cup of Darjeeling tea to enjoy in peace with our dog on my lap.
How do you like to move your body in summer — is it different to winter?
In summer, my yoga practice is more dynamic and if I can take it outdoors, I will. When I practise outside, I tend to be a bit more playful with the postures I do. There will be a few more inversions, as I don't mind falling on grass or sand! In winter, I gravitate towards slower, more ground-based restorative movement.
What does "wellness" actually mean to you right now?
Wellness, to me right now, goes far beyond just feeling physically healthy. It's pursuing contentment in your body, your mind and your heart. That doesn't mean I feel good about everything all the time, but there's a sense of balance and steadiness across these parts of myself.
For me, it is being regulated and anchored. That anchor might be your faith, your core beliefs, a physical practice, your relationships, or a blend of all of those. Wellness isn't about constant positivity it's about having that steady foundation to return to, no matter what's going on around you.
What's one small ritual you never skip, no matter how busy things get?
I love the process of brewing loose-leaf tea, the patience of waiting, and then taking the time to really enjoy the taste and aroma. It's something I learned while living in Japan, where I worked for a small company that truly valued unhurried tea breaks. It was never rushed and it was always a simple, quietly joyful experience.
Where do you feel most grounded?
By the sea. Being originally from the tropics, being on the beach reminds me of home.
You work across yoga and photography. How do those worlds connect for you?
I was a photographer before I became a yoga teacher. My teacher training in India in 2016 was transformative in many ways, including in my work as a photographer. Something about that intensive study of yoga redefined my creativity. Some of my favourite and best personal work came from that year.
What's inspiring you visually at the moment?
Colour and nature, mostly. I've just returned from three weeks in the Philippines and Singapore visiting family, and I was struck by how vibrant everything looked and felt — from the food, the clothing, buildings, décor and the ocean, everything seemed bold and alive, and even the simplest things looked brighter. There's something about that warmth that makes everything feel more vivid, and it's definitely stayed with me.
Your favourite way to reset after a long day?
A hot bath with candles. My daughter has a red lamp in the shape of a sriracha bottle — I borrow it when I have a bath, as the warm red glow is comforting. My version of red light therapy!
What's always in your bag?
Lip balm, hand cream and my diary. I'm old school — I don't use the calendar app on my phone. I have to write everything down on my planner. If it's not there, it's not happening!
A local Cotswolds business or maker you love right now?
My friend Kate runs a really cool shop in Stow-on-the-Wold called Echo & Dust. She has the most unique and colourful clothes and is also a talented silversmith. Her jewellery designs are statement pieces and wearable art. I love watching her posts and stories on Instagram.

Your go-to skin or body care ritual in the summer months?
I've recently revamped my skincare routine and have become more disciplined about using a high-quality tinted facial sunscreen every single day.
How do you stay hydrated — any non-negotiables?
Plenty of water and herbal tea.
A pose or movement you come back to again and again?
Vajrasana, also known as Thunderbolt or Lightning Bolt Pose, is the seated posture I return to always. I sit this way when I meditate and practice breathwork. I also find it especially helpful after meals, as it's traditionally believed to support digestion.
Beyond these mindful practices, I naturally gravitate towards this position in daily life — I often sit and work in Vajrasana because I feel most comfortable on the floor than in a chair!
What are you learning or leaning into this year?
Each year on my birthday in January, I choose a single word to guide the year ahead. For 2026, my word is rooted.
This year, I'm focusing on feeling more settled and steady — less influenced by what others might think or say, and less preoccupied with things beyond my control. It's about anchoring myself in what truly matters and moving through this stage of life with a quiet yet strong sense of calm and purpose.
